Vegan Powder Face Masks: The Process and How To Use Them:

February 2, 2018

A lil behind-the-scenes peek at how our facial mask scrubs are made, by hand (see pix, in consecutive order below).

I start by grinding try dried plant matter (can you believe I used to grind them by hand with a mortar and pestle (see last pic)?! I stubbornly wanted everything to be super authentic. But it took forever! A couple coffee grinders are far more efficient).

.

Then I put on my gloves and blend the various clays (depending on which mask it is), ground plant matter, very specific natural preservatives and face-loving essential oils, then mix by hand, to make sure all of the oils are evenly distributed. I gently crush and blend each oil bead, takes a good 15 minutes or so.

.

Then I use a tiny funnel to bottle the powders in our cute little French square bottles. Ooo la la!

.

Next, we  show how to prepare the powders for a facial mask.

-Add 1 tsp. liquid (we used witch hazel here, but we also like cold coconut milk, called herbal tea, distilled water, and mashed avocado) to 1 tsp powder.

-Mix until it’s a mud, then apply to face until nearly dry.

-Once it's nearly dry, wet your face with warm water and a washcloth (or hop in the shower to remove) and gently exfoliate with the ground plant matter. See? It’s a two-for-one! A mask and a scrub.

.

Finally...dry your face off, add a moisturizer and glow!

.

A customer recently emailed me about his much she loves this mask, said it makes her skin “all soft and dewy.”  Yay! I love hearing this kind of feedback! She said she uses our Raining Roses Face Tonic afterwards (which she described as “addictive, I use it morning and night!”) for a lovely skin-healthy routine. Don’t forget to moisturize, too!

.

It’s a lot of work to make these healthy/natural beauty products, but I do it for people like me, who want natural products...free from chemicals and synthetics. And products that are tested on humans, not animals. ️

.

And they’re very reasonably priced. One 1 oz jar will last 6-8 applications. .
